The Wrong Phrase: How We Unlearned Connection

Remember the early days of the pandemic? (I know, I’m sorry to bring it up.) The phrase “social distancing” became part of our daily vocabulary, and in many ways, it was the wrong phrase all along. We were practicing physical distancing, but we had every opportunity – and every reason – to stay socially connected.

This distinction is more important now than ever. Connection isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s a superpower for your business. When it’s done well, it drives real, measurable results.

For me, it all started with a leadership podcast. What began as a way to connect with a few leaders in my network blossomed into something far greater than I ever could have imagined – had I even bothered to write a business plan. By focusing on connection and building great relationships, that initial passion project led me to start a business. It’s now a business that serves global companies, helping them reimagine their all-hands meetings and producing over a dozen business and leadership-focused podcasts, executive communications videos, and more. This network of influence has grown because we’ve always prioritized human-to-human connection.

In a world where forces outside of our control can work to drive a wedge between us, embedding connection into everything you do is your best defense. This is the ethos of our work – ceating the experiences and content that build unbreakable bonds (see what I did there?). We’ve seen it at work in all-hands meetings that unite a global team, in podcasts that give leaders a human voice, and in conferences that make every person feel seen and a sense of belonging.

Don’t let anything drive a wedge between your people, customers, and partners. Instead, embed experiences for connection into everything you do, and watch your organization thrive.
